To support the national ambition towards industrialisation, the government of Gabon has set itself the goal of increasing its power production capacity to more than 5,000 MW compared to 414 MW today. This objective will be reached thanks to considerable investments in the production of gas – where the potential is some 39.59 billion cubic metres - hydroelectric power and by the promotion of renewable energy sources.

This strategy comprises the State setting up a six year electricity plan (2010 – 2015), which allows for structural reforms and the opening up of the sector to other operators. This is why the development of an industry geared towards the export of liquefied natural gasin the Duty Free Zone of Mandji Island, appears very promising as a business opportunity.

Investments in the energy sector should include the development of integrated infrastructure, comprising electricity production, transport and distribution.
